Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad Claimed

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is a public university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is named after Allama Muhammad Iqbal, a poet and philosopher who was also the president of the Muslim League in 1930. (AIOU) is the first and largest open university in Asia, and the fifth largest in the world. It offers distance education to more than one million students across the country, from Matriculation to PHD level. It has 44 regional campuses and centers, and a diverse range of programs in philosophy, natural science and social sciences.

Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad was established in 1974 as a response to the success of the Open University in the United Kingdom. Its mission is to provide education for all, without any discrimination or barriers. It also aims to provide cost-effective and lifelong education to people who cannot leave their homes or jobs to attend a traditional university.

Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad has four faculties: Arabic and Islamic Studies, Education, Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Each faculty has several departments that offer different courses and degrees. (AIOU) also has an Indexing and Abstracting Agency called Islamic Research Index, which is the largest repository of Arabic and Islamic Studies Research Journals. Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad is affiliated with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the Pakistan Engineering Council, and other national and international bodies.
